On one side decorated in relief with Minerva laying a laurel wreath with the text: "La valeur et la victoire" above it and on the other side: Napoleon on horseback with the text: "Napoleon I Empereur de France et Roi d'Italie", with 18 hand-coloured engravings of Napoleon's battles beginning at Lodi, 10 May 1796 and ending at Danzig, 20 May 1807. two further copper engravings with inscriptions on the inside of the lid. A BIEDERMEIER MOVABLE CARD

The card shows a pear and the text "ouvrez et regardez ce que cache ce fruit" that translates into open and see what this fruit hides".
When the tab of this card is pulled, three 'apostles' appear with the text "nous sommes de bons apôtres et nous vous caressont pour vous vendre des nôtres", something like "we are good apostles and we caress you
to sell you some of ours".

A peepshow consisting of a hand-coloured engraved front panel of a man and a woman in costume surrounding a peepshowbox with one peephole and three panels including back panel showing the battle of Austerlitz, folding concertina style. What makes this copy remarkable is not only its small size, but also the fact that there is an envelope on the back containing a piece of paper that describes the story of the battle. A green silk ribbon holds everything together.

Amsterdam, Covens et Mortier, circa 1750
A puzzle of a map of the Netherlands of the 18th Century. Cut-out pieces of wood lined with paper, hand-coloured engraving. Complete, only a tab is missing. In probably original oak box. The map shows Holland in the 16th Century and is made in 1729. So although the puzzle was supposed to be educational, the map was already out of date. While it is thought that Spilsbury created the first dissected puzzle, this Dutch puzzle is believed to be made circa 1750.16,5 x 13,5 x 4 cm

The plates show historical scenes, costumes, genre scenes and numerous views. The maps show 2 hemispheres, and maps of the various continents. The maps and plates each have 6 questions on the geography and history of the respective region on the verso. Clean and crisp condition.

Cut-out pieces of wood lined with paper, hand-coloured engraving depicting a maid with apollo knot hairdo setting the table in a typical Biedermeier house. A young man greets her through the open window and takes off his hat. On the lid the same image accompanied by the title in German and French. Lid darkened, puzzle itself very bright in colour, one tab replaced.
