A CHINAHEAD DOLL IN TRADITIONAL NORMANDY COSTUME
German, circa 1860
Glazed porcelain shoulder head, forearms and legs, fabric body. Painted features and black hair. Original dressed in cotton jacket and striped red/black skirt trimmed with lace and an impressive headdress made of gold thread and lace. She holds in her left hand a very refined wicker basket and in her right hand, if possible, even more refined poultry. She stands on a round wooden base with a paper label that reads: ”Coiffure… du pays de … Normandie/…”.
