A CHINAHEAD DOLL IN TRADITIONAL NORMANDY COSTUME
German, circa 1860
Glazed porcelain shoulder head, forearms and legs, fabric body. Painted features and black hair. Original dressed in cotton jacket and striped red/black skirt trimmed with lace and an impressive headdress made of gold thread and lace. She holds in her left hand a very refined wicker basket and in her right hand, if possible, even more refined poultry. She stands on a round wooden base with a paper label that reads: ”Coiffure… du pays de … Normandie/…”.

Pale varnished wood and simulated ebony bands, comprising a dresser, a desk, a square table and a round table, a wall mirror, four chairs and a sofa with purple silk upholstery and a rare footstool. Some legs have minor defects, but all furniture can stand.

Poured wax head with fixed black glass eyes, blue beret modelled in the material, blonde mohair curls, original cotton undergarments and woollen checked costume. Fabric body, wooden lower legs with painted stockings and black shoes, wooden forearms. In excellent condition, all original. With paper label on which is written ‘Scotchman’.

A LARGE MOTSCHMANN TAUFLING DOLL
German, circa 1860
A papier-mâché solid dome head with wisps of painted hair and glass pupilless eyes. The taufling Motschmann body, modeled after those of early Asian dolls, has “floating” joints. Papier-mâché shoulder plate, lower torso, and lower arms and legs. The upper arms, legs and mid torso are fabric covered. White/red striped pantsuit, red velvet jacket (moth holes). Some wear to the fabric (especially the right leg) and the papier-mâché.

German, circa 1870
All three made entirely of wood, with the hair modelled in the material, painted features, originally dressed in silk clothing with one lady wearing a dress trimmed with Dresdner paper. All three standing on a round wooden base. The male figure has a fracture at his waist but the clothing holds everything firmly together.

A painted wooden room with a sloping roof and a glass window on either side (one window with cracks). The tiled floor slopes slightly forward. Traditionally fixed in this type of kitchen a countertop, two taps, a cooker, a cooking area and a display cabinet. Also kitchen utensils, a china head doll (damaged leg), a chandelier, a tin table, two wooden chairs and a birdcage.

Paper-mache head, fixed glass eyes, painted mouth and hair, Pauline type, paper-mache body, leather arms. Stands on a green painted tin tricycle. When wound up, the doll moves in circles and moves her head from side to side. She holds a ribbon with little bells in her right hand and is dressed in a organza dress that has some damage. Wind-up mechanism.

Venetian-style, the matched five-arm candelabras have delicate clear glass crystal frames and are decorated with turquoise blown glass trim.
