AN EARLY GROCERY STORE
German, circa 1850, made for the English market
Painted and stenciled wood with faux wood grained lithographed paper drawer and counter fronts. This example is pictured on page 321 of Antique Dolls' Houses, Flora Gill Jacobs 2005. some wear and water staining, split to roof, one drawer incomplete.
This early grocery store is very similar to ones pictured in the mid-nineteenth Erzgebirge toy sample books but has been attributed to Christian Hacker.
